Journeyperson Instrumentation Competency Expectations
Journeyperson Certificate and License:
Must hold and maintain Journeyperson status and a valid Journeyperson license.
Hazardous Area Classification:
Mastery of hazardous area classifications. Good knowledge of class 1 div 1 and class 1 div 2 zoning.
Power Distribution:
Some ability to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot low to medium voltage switchgear and equipment. Including breakers, power supplies, low voltage power supplies etc.
Blueprints and schematics:
Strong ability in reading diagrams, schematics, and troubleshooting Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and SCADA interfaces.
Diagnostics:
Ability to use multimeters, Flukes, Crystal, Hart communicator, gas detection, and laptops for PLC diagnostics and programming.
Device Calibrations
Calibrate and test pressure, level, heat, flow transmitters.
Documentation and QA/Qc
Diligent record-keeping for preventive maintenance schedules, verification testing, and compliance reporting.
Safe Work Practices:
Adherence to all safe work policies and documentation. Such as harassment policy, safe work policy, fit to work policy, etc. Adherence to completing documentation such as hazard assessment forms, lock out forms, fall arrest forms, task observations, picker and trailer pre use inspections, etc.
Mandatory Safety Certifications:
Current certificates that include H2S Alive, First Aid/CPR, Fall Protection, and WHIMIS.
