Senior Managers / Supervisors are responsible for ensuring that employees and contractors are adequately trained to safely perform their job duties by providing them with knowledge of hazard identification / controls and safe job procedures that apply to their scope of work. Employees shall hold a journeyperson certificate in the electrician trade issued pursuant to The Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Act, and includes an apprentice in the trade while under the supervision of a journeyperson. The holder of such certificate shall be deemed competent to perform his/her duties based upon successful completion and certification by the The Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Act.
Required competency levels by position or job level will be identified. Before being promoted from one job level to the next, the employees and / or contractors ability to perform the required tasks of the position will be reviewed, including identifying hazards and safe job procedures. Additional training requirements will be based on these evaluations. A new orientation detailing their new job requirements and, if applicable, responsibilities for supervision of apprentices and helpers will be provided. Newly promoted supervisory employees will be provided with supervisor training when available, which must include job responsibilities, OHS Acts & Regulations and OHS Legislation, Company policies and procedures, supervisory skills, and Company emergency preparedness. Training will be supplied either when the Supervisor orientation is held or through external supervisory training course.
On-the-job training will continue throughout all employees’ careers with Power Tech Industries Ltd.
