Risk is the chance or probability of a hazard causing harm or damage to people, property, or the environment. There are usually three variables affecting the degree of risk, including:
•Severity – how bad could the loss be if it were to happen.
•Frequency – how often are we exposed to the hazard.
•Probability – how likely is the hazard to result in the loss described.
