There are two critical categories of hazards that can exist in any workplace.
These are:
Fixed hazard: Exists as an inherent, permanent, or fixed hazard, such as an elevated work platform, a trench, or a confined space.
Active hazard: Produced or caused as a result of an activity being performed and / or that activity resulting in a contact with a fixed hazard.
