Any employee working on normally energized equipment will lock out and tag equipment or otherwise render the equipment inoperable before work is performed. The owner of the equipment is to ensure that the equipment is shut down and that a multiple lock out device is attached to the breaker, switch, etc. If this has not been done by the Client Representative, Power Tech Industries Ltd. employees shall ensure this is done before work is started. All persons working on the piece of equipment will attach their own lock before commencing work and remove their lock when the work is complete, (multiple lock out system).
Only Journeymen Electricians with proper Electrical and lock out / tagout training will perform lockout / tagout procedures.
Employees will ensure that all energized equipment is locked and tagged and will ensure that locks, multiple lock out devices and tags are available for this task.
Locks and tags will be used to isolate or render equipment inoperable wherever the equipment may pose a hazard to workers. This would include the lock out of electrical breakers and valves on operating pipelines or other processes.
