Prior to entering any confined space, a client Safe Work Permit, Power Tech Field Task Hazard Assessment Form, and a Power Tech Confined Space Entry Form must be completed and signed by all employees.
A competent person shall evaluate the confined prior to any entry to determine if the space is hazardous. If it is determined to be a permit required confined space, the appropriate permits will be obtained, and the space will be marked as a permit required confined space.
Considerations for safe entry should include:
•DO NOT ENTER A SPACE WHERE A FLAMMABLE ENVIRONMENT EXISTS.
•Only use electrical equipment that is explosion / vapour proof, low voltage or that is Ground Fault Interrupter (GFI) protected / rated.
•If welding or other work that may generate a hazard for workers is to be performed, ensure that continuous gas monitoring is conducted.
•Do not take compressed gas welding bottles into a confined space. Leave bottles outside and run the hoses into the space when welding. Remove hoses and torch from space when finished or at the end of each day.
