Workers / Contractors

The responsibilities in this section apply to:  Workers, Contractors, Owners, Prime Contractors, Self Employed Persons.

These entities responsible to:

Have a full and complete onsite orientation prior to entering any Power Tech work area.

Become familiar with and comply with the Company's safety requirements, responsibilities, and to ask questions when requirements are unclear.

Become actively involved in the development and maintenance of the safety program, through the sharing of experiences, knowledge and by providing feedback to management on program requirements.

Follow safety requirements and rules as identified in this manual and in OHS Acts and Regulations.

Report all hazardous conditions / situations that cannot be immediately fixed to both fellow employees that may learn from, or be exposed to the hazard, and to management, so that the hazard may be corrected.

According to the OH&S Act, a worker must refuse to carry out any work, or operate any tool or equipment, if he/she believes that there is imminent danger to his/her health or safety or to the safety of any worker on the work site.

Use the appropriate personal protective and safety equipment for the job.

Inspect equipment, tools, vehicles informally on a daily basis and correct deficiencies as quickly as practicable.

Report incidents and near miss incidents as per the incident reporting procedure.

Know the locations of and how to use emergency equipment.
