Temperature and weather extremes increase a workers stress which often increases the potential for incidents and injury. Management, as the “Employer”, has an obligation to provide a healthy and safe work place. He has the ultimate control and authority over the job and shall make the call on work limitations due to poor weather conditions. A work shack or vehicle must be provided for workers should they start to suffer the symptoms from temperature extremes. Symtoms could include frostbite in extreme cold, heat exhaustion, dehydration, sunburn in extreme heat. Employees will be trained on spotting signs of frostbite, heat exhaustion, dehydration in other workers and on measures to minimize the hazards and emergency practices and first aid measures to apply if such conditions exist.
