Supervisors/workers will visually inspect their vehicle / mobile equipment before operating it at the beginning of each shift.
The intent of vehicle, equipment, and materials inspections, is to assess the conditions and work readiness of the vehicle, equipment and materials, and to ensure that manufacturer, OHS, and company standards are being maintained, and to ensure defects and hazards are being identified and controlled.
Vehicle / equipment checklists (see Forms section) shall be completed by the Supervisors/worker at least monthly. All deficiencies shall be recorded on the inspection checklist along with corrective actions required or completed. All corrective actions that cannot be completed immediately, shall be assigned to a specified person for follow up by a specified date. Completed checklists shall be forwarded and maintained on file in the Estevan office.
Management is responsible to ensure that appropriate corrective action is implemented for deficiencies that cannot be corrected immediately.
All hoisting equipment will be inspected before use and the Supervisor/worker will maintain a log book in compliance with the OH&S Regulation, Section 215. Log books will be kept with the equipment or readily available for inspection purposes. Prior to using any hoisting equipment, the operator will ensure the lifting capacity is clearly marked on the equipment and that it is not exceeded.
All mobile equipment shall be inspected and maintained according to the manufacturer’s specifications.
If there is a risk of falling objects, the mobile equipment must be equipped with an overhead guard.
All materials delivered to the Power Tech Shop and / or picked up from distributors shall be inspected for damage prior to accepting delivery. Logs will be kept of any damages found.
