Hazard Reporting

All employees and contractors shall control any identified hazard immediately if possible.  If a hazard or safety concern, including unsafe conditions and unsafe work practices, cannot be controlled immediately, inform other workers of the hazard; flag, tag or sign the hazard and report the hazard to Management.

Hazards or safety concern, including unsafe conditions and unsafe work practices, that cannot be controlled at the field level are to be reported on the hazard report form (see Forms section) with follow up actions also identified in writing.  Corrective actions must be tracked to completion by Management.

A copy of the completed report will be kept in the Estevan office for filing (for 5 years).  Employees and contractors will be kept informed on the status of a reported hazard or safety concern, including unsafe conditions and unsafe work practices at safety meetings.  Management is responsible to report the status or action taken back to the originator of a hazard report, even if the action is no action or something different than that requested on the report.

All significant hazards shall be discussed at safety meetings.  Any required follow up will be discussed.

All employees will be trained in hazard recognition techniques and safe job procedures, through on the job training, safety training, trade training, their involvement in planned inspections, and during orientation training.
