Hail is a real probability on a Sask. work site and can cause huge amounts of damage in a short time. It is some times accompanied by torrential rain. If a hail storm or torrential rain storm appears in your area, use the following procedure:
Worksite:
•Warn all personnel on site of the approaching storm and to be aware of the possibility of hail.
•Take cover in your vehicle or a solid structure, whichever is closest and wait out the storm.
•Stay away from windows.
Vehicle on Highway:
•Pull your vehicle onto the shoulder of the road and turn on your 4 way flashers to warn other drivers of your presence.
•If your windshield cracks and starts to break, cover up with coveralls or jacket to avoid possible cuts from glass particles and / or to protect yourself from hail coming through the opening.
•Wait until the storm has passed before proceeding. Be careful of slippery driving conditions.
