Power Tech Industries values its employees, and those whose safety may be affected by the conduct of said employees, and recognizes the need for a safe and healthy work environment. Furthermore, the use of alcohol and drugs may adversely affect the ability of a person to work in a safe manner. Employees at construction sites often work independently and with equipment or material that can pose a threat to the safety of the workforce if handled without proper care and attention. This Policy reminds employees of the risks associated with the use of alcohol and drugs and provides understandable and predictable responses when an employee’s conduct jeopardizes the safety of the worksite. All employees will receive training in Power Tech's Alcohol and Drug Policy.
By following the purpose of the Alcohol and Drug Policy, Power Tech Industries is ensuring:
•The safety and dignity of the employer and employee’s
•The welfare of employees and their families
•The best interests of the public and the construction industry by ensuring employees are mentally and physically capable of performing their duties to the best of their abilities
To ensure compliance of the Alcohol and Drug Policy, all testing will be done by an external certified testing facility following approved industry standards, and will be performed in accordance with the Canadian Model for Providing a Safe Workplace. Testing will be required:
•For reasonable grounds
•Post incident
•All return to work following a rehabilitation program
•Pre-access when required by the client
