Progressive Discipline

Employees are expected to perform their jobs safely and efficiently according to Company rules, procedures and Government Legislation.  Depending on the seriousness and intent of employee actions, disciplinary action will generally be taken for infractions of these requirements as follows:

First infraction:

A verbal warning by the worker’s Supervisor with a note in the Supervisor’s diary.

Second infraction:

A written warning will be completed by Management and discussed with the worker.  The written warning must include what the employee did wrong, what is expected of him/her to improve his/her performance, including a  time frame, and the discipline that will be applied if the employee does not improve their performance.  A review of the performance issue will be held after the time frame has expired.

The worker is required to sign the written warning to  acknowledge they have received and understood it's content and job implications.  Written warnings will be filed on the worker’s file.

Third infraction:

May include day(s) off without pay and written warning as above.  Third infractions may result in termination of employment, according to Management’s discretion.

Fourth infraction

May result in termination of employment.

Each violation does not have to be for the same offence.  Any situation where employees do not follow safety procedures, policies, rules or follow Company expectations constitutes a violation.

Management will record all infractions in the employees file.  Depending on the severity of any infraction, Management may accelerate or combine any of the above steps.
