Pre Job Hazard Assessment

A Pre Job Hazard Assessment is also called a Field Task Hazard Assessment.

The purpose of the site specific pre-job hazard assessment process is to ensure that all potential hazards, safety precautions, emergency procedures, and specifics related to the work and site, are identified and discussed before the job starts, and to ensure employees/contractors are aware of how to report and control those hazards.  The Pre-job Hazard Assessment form will be completed by the crew Supervisor when a work crew or contractors first arrive on a new job site or move between job sites.  All hazards will be discussed with affected employees/contractors at an on-site orientation:

The form shall be completed by the crew Supervisor in conjunction with all workers on site.

The scope of work will be identified and all potential hazards related to the tasks, work environment, work site processes, live gas processing equipment, electrical equipment, other work crews, etc. shall be identified on the form.

Any hazards shall be corrected, or otherwise controlled, before the work commences.

Emergency evacuation, muster points, and alarm system activation shall be identified.

All onsite workers and contractors will be involved in the process so that they may learn from this hazard assessment.

The results of the hazard assessment shall be discussed with the work crew in a brief pre-job safety meeting.

The completed form shall be sent back to the Estevan office with other pertinent information at the first opportune time (when other documentation is sent into the office).

If the Client Company has an effective pre-job hazard assessment process or safe work permit, the Power Tech Industries Ltd. hazard assessment checklist must still be completed.  The intent is not to have a duplication of effort, but to ensure all hazards are identified and controlled.  The Client Company pre-job hazard assessment process or safe work permit must be returned to the Estevan main office as soon as practical.

Installing & removal of locks must be documented in the pre-job safety meeting.

Visitors to the work site will be given an orientation by reviewing the pre-job safety form so they are aware of on-site hazards and controls.

A new/revised hazard assessment will be performed if new equipment arrives, or environmental conditions change, on a job site.  All employees will be involved in the assessment and controls.
