IE: if the alarm was activated on the lower floor, the person sounding the alarm would ensure the lower floor areas have all been evacuated. He/She will pick up the emergency evacuation check in list from the bulletin board nearest the emergency exit. He/She will also assign someone to check the west/east shop (depending on which building the fire is in) to ensure all employees in the shop are aware of the fire and evacuate to the muster point.
•To ensure the upper floor is evacuated the rooms will be checked by the designated employee on the upper level who is on site at the time of the evacuation. This employee will pick up the emergency evacuation checklist form from the bulletin board nearest the emergency exit. The designated employees and order of assignment are below:
▪Scott Schoff
▪Pat Murphy
▪Mike Murphy
▪Amie Sehn
▪Jaime Willis
JOB STEPS
1. If the fire is small and can be extinguished, get nearest fire extinguisher, pull the pin, aim at the base of the fire, squeeze the handle and use a sweeping motion of the extinguisher until fire is out.
2.Evacuation procedures are to be initiated if the fire is too large, has spread out of control, or is in an area adjacent to any explosive materials.
3.The person initiating the emergency evacuation will use the SecurTek alarm system by depressing the fire button until the alarm starts. This is the top long button on the left side of the controller with a flame symbol on it (see picture below). SecurTek does not monitor the fire alarm. It is the responsibility of the person sounding the alarm to contact 911 after evacuation of the building is complete.
4. The person sounding the alarm will be responsible for ensuring all personnel have been evacuated from the floor the alarm was sounded on PROVIDING IT IS SAFE TO DO SO. He/She will assign someone to check the west/east shop (depending on which building the fire is in) to inform any employees in the shop of the evacuation while clearing the main shop area. He/She will pick up the emergency evacuation check in list from the bulletin board nearest the emergency exit. He/She will call 911 or assign an employee to call 911 to report the fire. The upper level will be checked as above under Responsibilities.
5.All employees/staff are to leave the building or work site by way of the closest exit NOT affected by the emergency condition. While exiting the building, the employees need to check for the evacuation sign sheet located by their exit as listed above. If the check in sheet is hanging on the wall, it should be picked up and given to the senior manager and/or safety adviser at the muster point.
6.Fire doors are to remain closed at all times. Before exiting through a closed fire door, feel the door to see if it is hot and to ensure the fire is not located immediately behind the door. After leaving the building or work site carefully proceed to the muster point (north corner of the east gate).
7.The senior manager and safety adviser on site shall take role call to ensure all workers are accounted for.
8.The senior manager or emergency response personal will determine if the building or site is safe to re-occupy following the emergency evacuation. NO ONE is to re-enter the building or site without authorization.
9.
